THE FOUR SMART STUDENTS

Image
One night four college students were out partying late night and didn’t study for the test which was scheduled for the next day. In the morning, they thought of a plan. They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt. Then they went to the Dean and said they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their way back the tire of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back. So they were in no condition to take the test. The Dean thought for a minute and said they can have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they will be ready by that time. On the third day, they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said that as this was a Special Condition Test, all four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days. The Test consisted of only 2 questions with the total of 100 Points. 1) Your Name __________ (1 Points) 2) Which tire burst? __________ (99 Points) Options – (a) Front...

EVENING DINNER

Image
A son took his old father to a restaurant for an evening dinner.  Father being very old and weak, while eating, dropped food on his shirt and trousers.  Other diners watched him in disgust while his son was calm. After he finished eating, his son who was not at all embarrassed, quietly took him to the washroom, wiped the food particles, removed the stains, combed his hair and fitted his spectacles firmly.  When they came out, the entire restaurant was watching them in dead silence, not able to grasp how someone could embarrass themselves publicly like that.  The son settled the bill and started walking out with his father. At that time, an old man amongst the diners called out to the son and asked him, “Don’t you think you have left something behind?”. The son replied, “No sir, I haven’t”. The old man retorted, “Yes, you have!  You left a lesson for every son and hope for every father”. The restaurant went silent. Moral: To...

THE POWER OF THE WORD OF THE LORD

Image
Today's Verse “But, his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” - Psalms 1:2 Have you ever bought furniture that has to be assembled? You open the box, and there are thousands of pieces that must be put together. There is usually an instruction sheet that contains a detailed guide with pictures. However, unless you are a gifted handyman, this probably doesn’t make much difference. The journey of life is sort of like that box of furniture pieces. It is a jumbled conglomerate of different pathways that require guidance. However, the one and only true guide book for the journey in the word of the Lord. His words are truth and provide real direction and victory. When you keep it in your heart, it will bring you delight and show you the path for your footsteps. He will then walk with you every step of the way. – Commentary by Lisa M. Leto Today's Prayer Lord, thank You for Your word and for the ligh...

SAINT OF THE DAY

Image
About Today Year: C(II). Psalm week: 1. Liturgical Colour: Green. St John of Bridlington (1319 - 1379) Hallam, Middlesbrough John of Bridlington was born in about 1319. His family name was Thwing and it is likely that he was born in the village of that name a few miles inland from the east Yorkshire coastal town of Bridlington – or Burlington as it was then called. As a young man he was sent to Oxford to pursue his studies, but after two years he returned home. Soon afterwards, at the age of twenty, he entered the religious life under the rule of the Canons Regular of St Augustine and joined the ancient Priory of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Bridlington.     Though he held various offices in his community, John was unconcerned about his own advancement being totally preoccupied by public prayer and private devotion. When first elected to the office of prior he persuaded his fellow canons to choose someone else. But in time, when the office fell vacant again, he ...

Mother Teresa Says:  "When a poor person dies of hunger it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed."

CARRIED TO THE END

Image
Today's Verse “Even to your old age I am he, even when you turn gray I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.” -Isaiah 46:4 Each new chapter of life brings different fears and worries; as well as joys and adventures. It can be scary leaving childhood behind, facing middle age, or reaching the later years. Thankfully, we’re not alone in this journey. Whatever may be facing us, we don’t have to do it by ourselves. Even though we’re adults now, we have someone to hold us, carry us, and be a Father to us—that someone is God! It is so reassuring to know that He will always be with us and take care of us. From the time we take our first breath to the time we take our last. Don’t be afraid of the days ahead. Whether you’re just starting out or whether you’re in “your old age,” God is here for you! – Commentary by Traci Elliott Today's Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You that we can call You Father and that You ...

LAUGH AT THE FUTURE

Image
Today's Verse “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.” -Proverbs 31:25 Do you ever worry about the future? Maybe you wonder what bad things are going to happen just around the corner of life. I think we probably all have those moments of worry. In this verse, we see that the virtuous wife doesn’t fear the future, in fact; she laughs at it. If only we could have this attitude! The good news is I think we can. We are all human and we all have our moments of fear, but I think that we can tap into this confidence that the virtuous wife had. The answer lies with another of this woman’s qualities; she “fears the Lord.” When we have more fear or reverence for God than we do for whatever may come in the future, then we can laugh with confidence, knowing that He is greater than all adversity. – Commentary by Traci Elliott Today's Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for always being with us and giving us confiden...

LOOKING AT THE MIRROR

Image
One day all the employees reached the office and they saw a big advice on the door on which it was written: “Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company passed away. We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been prepared in the gym”.  In the beginning, they all got sad for the death of one of their colleagues, but after a while they started getting curious to know who was that man who hindered the growth of his colleagues and the company itself. The excitement in the gym was such that security agents were ordered to control the crowd within the room. The more people reached the coffin, the more the excitement heated up. Everyone thought: “Who is this guy who was hindering my progress? Well, at least he died!”  One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless.  They stood nearby the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepes...

WHO IS YOUR PEACE?

Image
Today's Verse “Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace—in peace because they trust in you” -Isaiah 26:3 Sometimes I’ll start the day off determined to be positive. I'll say to myself “I will have a peaceful day no matter what.” Then something unexpected comes up, something else interrupts my schedule for the day, or a health issue arises. It doesn’t take long before I’m frazzled, worn out, and not having a very good day. However, I have to stop and remember that my peace should not be based on circumstances, because peace is a gift from God in all situations. So, when unexpected things come up, instead of giving in to the chaos, I’m going to try something different. I’m going to take a deep breath or two, re-focus, and remember that my peace comes from God. He will help me through any difficulty because He is my peace. I can have a wonderful day no matter what when my mind is fixed on Him. – Commentary by Traci Elliott Today's Praye...
