TOPIC: SOCIAL MEDIA SEDUCTIONS
Text: Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil;
neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after
many to wrest judgment
- Exodus 23: 2
On August 21, 2014, Jason Thibeault, a social
media marketer, wrote a post in his LinkedIn page,
why I just quit Facebook. The article went viral,
getting over 700,000 views the following day.
According to Jason, he had to quit Facebook
because "my news feeds were becoming an
addiction. They were a constant interruption
pulling me away from the work that I was
otherwise enjoying." Social media offers some
benefits such as staying connected with friends
and family, enhancing creativity through sharing
ideas with others who have similar interests.
However, the dangers are equally enormous. They
promote selfishness, worldliness, restlessness,
isolation, and violence. While youths struggle to be
available online, they often become unavailable in
real life. Apart from addiction, social media subtly
alter the moral complexion of users. Continual
exposure to lewd and obscene materials corrupt
good morals. Remain holy and avoid addiction to
the social media.
Challenge:Social media subtly alter the moral
complexion of users.
Prayer:Lord, deliver me from the dangers of social
media.
Quote:Remain holy and avoid addiction
