THE DOOR OF LIFE

Today's Verse

“I am the door, if anyone enters through me, he will be saved, and will come in and go out, and find pasture.” – John 10:9
Jesus is the door that we are meant to walk through when we become Christian believers. It is only through Him that we can be saved. When Jesus spoke of being the, “door for the sheep” (6:7) He was teaching the disciples this very truth, only those that enter their faith through Him will find life. His intent with this statement was to show that some people will try to walk the path of life in ways other than through Him. Jesus is the true door to life and without His guidance we will always be searching in vain for that greener pastures. A shepherd's flock is dependent on recognizing the voice of their shepherd. We too should be dependent on recognizing the voice of our Shepherd, Jesus. – Commentary by Matthew Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, thank You for always being the shepherd that will lead me through the door of life. Teach me to follow Your voice when You call me and to recognize the path You have planned. Amen.

INSTRUMENTS OF GOD

The Holy Trinity  “Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” Luke 10:16 Jesus makes a threefold connection in this passage. He connects you to Him and Himself to the Father. Thus, when you are acting as a true instrument of the Lord, and another either listens to or rejects what you bring to them, then they are either listening to or rejecting not only you but also our Lord and the Father in Heaven. One thing this reveals is the awesome responsibility we all have to bring the love and mercy of the Father in Heaven to those whom we encounter every day. We are able to be true instruments of God. In making such a strong connection between us, Himself and the Father in Heaven, Jesus is elevating our human dignity to an incredible level. The time has come for us to remind ourselves of what this country used to be. Modernization and perhaps civilization has made us all so comfortable we pay little or no attention to our historical background. The only time we feel the need to get informed about the history of this great country is when we have job interviews to attend. The current affairs being taught at the primary school is not doing enough justice as many adults do not have the basic knowledge of how this country evolved and came to be what it is now.
