PROSPERITY AND SUCCESS

Today's Verse

This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful. – Joshua 1:8
On this chapter, Joshua was appointed by God to take the place of Moses and to lead God’s people to the land which God had promised them. In order to be successful on his mission God instructed Joshua to obey the law which Moses gave him (v.7). To do that, he should meditate on God’s law and talk about it every day. God reminds Joshua that success and prosperity does not come from his abilities, skills or intellect, but by his complete obedience to God’s word. This is also a reminder to us that obedience is our foremost priority as we follow God and obey His will. That is why we should study and learn more about the Bible by meditating on it and sharing it to others. Success and prosperity awaits those who obey Him. – Commentary by Jeremy B. Trio

Today's Prayer

Lord we know that apart from being obedient to You, we can never be prosperous and successful in life. Help us to be obedient and help us to find time to meditate and ponder upon Your word every day. Amen.

INSTRUMENTS OF GOD

The Holy Trinity  “Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” Luke 10:16 Jesus makes a threefold connection in this passage. He connects you to Him and Himself to the Father. Thus, when you are acting as a true instrument of the Lord, and another either listens to or rejects what you bring to them, then they are either listening to or rejecting not only you but also our Lord and the Father in Heaven. One thing this reveals is the awesome responsibility we all have to bring the love and mercy of the Father in Heaven to those whom we encounter every day. We are able to be true instruments of God. In making such a strong connection between us, Himself and the Father in Heaven, Jesus is elevating our human dignity to an incredible level. The time has come for us to remind ourselves of what this country used to be. Modernization and perhaps civilization has made us all so comfortable we pay little or no attention to our historical background. The only time we feel the need to get informed about the history of this great country is when we have job interviews to attend. The current affairs being taught at the primary school is not doing enough justice as many adults do not have the basic knowledge of how this country evolved and came to be what it is now.
