THE LORD LISTENS

Today's Verse

“Then those who feared the Lord spoke with each other, and the Lord listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and always thought about the honor of His name” – Malachi 3:16
Did you know the Lord truly does listen? It’s true, while there are times when it is hard to hear His reply, He speaks to us in so many different ways. Often times we don’t know what to listen for ourselves. The Lord listens, directs and answers us. Usually without us really realizing He has done so. In the story of Malachi, we are given really good insight into this, ‘Promise of Mercy,’ in chapter 3. Malachi’s people were warned of the coming judgement and given the opportunity to repent. When, ‘those who feared the Lord,’ spoke words of repentance, The Lord listened. He listens to us today and always responds. It may not be the response we desire, but He will reply. – Commentary by Matthew Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, I know that You are there even though Sometimes it doesn't seem like You are listening to my prayers. Help me to take the time to listen for your reply. Amen.

INSTRUMENTS OF GOD

The Holy Trinity  “Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” Luke 10:16 Jesus makes a threefold connection in this passage. He connects you to Him and Himself to the Father. Thus, when you are acting as a true instrument of the Lord, and another either listens to or rejects what you bring to them, then they are either listening to or rejecting not only you but also our Lord and the Father in Heaven. One thing this reveals is the awesome responsibility we all have to bring the love and mercy of the Father in Heaven to those whom we encounter every day. We are able to be true instruments of God. In making such a strong connection between us, Himself and the Father in Heaven, Jesus is elevating our human dignity to an incredible level. The time has come for us to remind ourselves of what this country used to be. Modernization and perhaps civilization has made us all so comfortable we pay little or no attention to our historical background. The only time we feel the need to get informed about the history of this great country is when we have job interviews to attend. The current affairs being taught at the primary school is not doing enough justice as many adults do not have the basic knowledge of how this country evolved and came to be what it is now.
