ENJOYING WORSHIP

Today's Verse

“I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Psalm 122:1
Worship should be enjoyed. David here expressed his joy when he was told that they will go to the house of God. It is not good to come before the presence of God with a sad face and a sorrowful heart. Even king Artaxerxes during the time of Nehemiah would not allow anyone to enter his courts with a sad face. If king Artaxerxes felt discomfort when someone showed sadness in front of him, how much more unpleasing is it to God who can see what’s truely in our hearts and minds. This is a reminder to us that we should be joyful when we worship God. Think of all the good things God has done for you. And when you worship let that appreciation and joy resonate as you praise Him. – Commentary by Jeremy B. Trio

Today's Prayer

Lord help me to condition my heart and my mind as I prepare myself to worship You. Help me to surrender the burdens in my heart to You and depend on You so that I can transform my sorrow into joy. Amen.

INSTRUMENTS OF GOD

The Holy Trinity  “Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” Luke 10:16 Jesus makes a threefold connection in this passage. He connects you to Him and Himself to the Father. Thus, when you are acting as a true instrument of the Lord, and another either listens to or rejects what you bring to them, then they are either listening to or rejecting not only you but also our Lord and the Father in Heaven. One thing this reveals is the awesome responsibility we all have to bring the love and mercy of the Father in Heaven to those whom we encounter every day. We are able to be true instruments of God. In making such a strong connection between us, Himself and the Father in Heaven, Jesus is elevating our human dignity to an incredible level. The time has come for us to remind ourselves of what this country used to be. Modernization and perhaps civilization has made us all so comfortable we pay little or no attention to our historical background. The only time we feel the need to get informed about the history of this great country is when we have job interviews to attend. The current affairs being taught at the primary school is not doing enough justice as many adults do not have the basic knowledge of how this country evolved and came to be what it is now.
