A PASTOR'S CREED.

Today's Verse

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them, not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve, not lording over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.” –1 Peter 5:2-3
As believers, there are always going to be opportunities when we are called upon to be a pastor to someone in need. This is why we hear the phrase, “The Priesthood of all believers.” But the question that always comes up is, “What truly defines a pastor?” Well, a Pastor is someone who cares about others. They watch out for those they care about. A Pastor is someone who cares, not because they are required to, but because they desire too. They are willing to serve in whatever capacity they can to be that example for others. These characteristics can also be connected to any believer, because they are the same characteristics that we, as believers are called to live by. Let us take a moment to ask ourselves; what can I do today to embrace our pastoral calling. – Commentary by Matthew Elliott

Today's Prayer

Father God, I know that You have called me to embrace a pastoral way of thinking. Today, I pray that You will reveal to me specific avenues in which I can pastor others in a way that honors You. Amen.
